Lots of good period detail about the city in the post war, what people ate and how they dressed, and the growing American population in the City of Light.

 

Throw in a sprinkling of Russian spies, another murder and Tab committing the fashion sin of wearing trousers (!!) and you have a nice easy reading, well-paced novel that kept my attention.

 

I particularly liked understanding what Paris life was like after the war; it was obvious that Colleen Cambridge likes to get her facts and details right. And kudos to the author taking on the famous Julia Childs way of speaking which she captured very well in the text.

 

I look forward to reading more from this author in what looks like the first story in a series featuring the courageous Tab (and the tall, dark, and handsome) Inspecteur Merveille…
