Bohème Cooking continued

The word “bohème” is exactly the right one – I was not sure what that meant in relation to cooking but now I get it. Solomon has a touch of alchemist about her as she combines unusual bedfellow to create food that I know I will love… Apricot, Fennel and Goat Cheese Salad – yes, I know…it sounds great!!

I am a longtime vegetarian, and a Francophile so why had I not noticed I never saw a French vegetarian recipe book before?? I have several French cookbooks with sections of no use to me but this book – every section was delish and full of things I would eat.

I particularly liked the look of the condiments (“I could do that”) and the ‘small plates’ which had a meze feel about them.

I feel my pantry is not quite the same as Solomons. A lot of the recipes use ingredients you would have at home (I can see that she has tried very hard to not make anything too complex). But not all.

Buts that’s OK as that’s why we buy a recipe book – to challenge ourselves to try new food combinations and be inspired by someone else’s ideas.

Her enjoyment of cooking is joyful and exuberant, you can see in the recipes.

I am now waiting for an invite to her home for a great feast…but in the meantime, I will be making ‘creamy pumpkin polenta with walnut jam’ for dinner.

Bon Appetit to all my French loving vegetarian friends out there!! This is great.
