'Norman's Folly' outlines a process that many of us may have thought about engaging with: a lifestyle change in a new country.

Having questioned their daily routine in the UK and found it wanting, the Norman family made the brave decision to relocate to France.

Clare Norman left her comfortable life in the UK in 2009 with her husband and 16 year old son to start a new life as peasant farmers in the French Pyrenees. This is her story of the family's introduction to French rural life and the challenges of combining a "Grand Designs" scale building project with a "Good Life" lifestyle.

'Norman's Folly' outlines a process that many of us may have thought about engaging with: a lifestyle change in a new country. Having questioned their daily routine in the UK and found it wanting, the Norman family made the brave decision to relocate to France. Actually, the decision was pretty much made for them when they were shown what is now their rural home and took a gut reaction to 'go for it'. As author Clare Norman explains, the route they chose wasn't always smooth (literally, in some cases, with regards the road that leads to their property). And things didn't happen as fast as they would have liked them too. But along the way they met a number of delightful French characters who add charm and warmth to this warts-and-all tale of change, development and growth.

It's some time, now, since the germ of the idea of moving to France. But Clare and her family have embraced village life, integrated with the locals and created for themselves the idyll they desired.

This is an honest account of the pain as much as the pleasures of such a move and the sheer hard work it entails, along with the delightful idiosyncrasies of the neighbourhood and its inhabitants around the Norman's new home.

Mademoiselle London’s first book of poetry and artwork is being launched at events around Paris. It’s the first in a series of graphic books that celebrate and shake a fist at everything about the beautiful and infuriating city of Paris. And it’s written in both English and French.

There is also the merchandising side – posters, postcards and T-shirts as well as the books available at the on-line shop.

Events coincide with the launch of their books which presents the opening chapter of a new life in Paris - first sights, smells, sounds, snogs and shags - using poetry, drawings and photographs. It exposes all the fairytales and nightmares of living in a city that has the weight of a billion foreigners’ dreams sitting on its old shoulders.

The use of a projector and screen at the events to project the poems and artwork elevates it from just another run-of-the-mill exhibition or book launch to a community event where everyone is reading and observing together and where they can comment and take part in the story that is unfolding on the wall in front of them.

For Kat and Franki, the main aim of Mademoiselle London is about communication – imparting information, sharing feelings and connecting French and English people.

A spring night in Paris. The most beautiful city in the world is dark and silent.Uncertainty devils the air. As does normality: War time normality.

The Nazi flag flutters from the Eiffel Tower. The Parisians are huddled indoors. Suddenly the night's stillness is shattered by sirens and excited voices. For days foul smoke has been pouring from the chimney of an uninhabited house close to the Avenue des Champs-Elysées.

Marilyn Z.Tomlins is a freelance journalist. She lives and works in Paris, France.

A spring night in Paris. The most beautiful city in the world is dark and silent. Uncertainty devils the air. As does normality: War time normality. The Nazi flag flutters from the Eiffel Tower. For days foul smoke has been pouring from the chimney of an uninhabited house close to the Avenue des Champs-Elysées. Police and fire fighters are racing to the house to break down the bolted door. They make a spine-chilling discovery. The remains of countless human beings are being incinerated in a furnace in the basement. In a pit in an outhouse quicklime consumes still more bodies.

Neighbors say they hear banging, pleading, sobbing and cries for help come from inside the house deep at night. They say a shabbily-dressed man on a green bike pulling a cart behind him comes to the house, always at dawn, or dusk.

The house belongs to Dr. Marcel Petiot - a good-looking, charming, caring, family physician who lives elsewhere in the city with his wife and teenage son.

Is he the shabbily-dressed man on the green bike?

If so, what has he to say about the bodies?

I first became aware of Karen Wheeler when I stumbled across her Blog, Tout Sweet, last summer while surfing the web for items connected to rural France.

This was just prior to the publication of her first book, also entitled Tout Sweet, which I read as soon as it was available.

I was instantly drawn into Karen’s story of how she relocated to a village in the Poitou-Charentes and started building a new life there.

With the publication of her second book, Toute Allure, the story continues and, as well as the familiar characters, we are also introduced to new ones such as the stuck up Annabelle and her two

dogs Jenson & Button, one of which lives up to it’s name by tearing around like a demented F1 driver.

The main storyline is the blossoming romance between the author and the new love in her life who goes by the name of “Biff”, a small black dog with boundless energy who requires frequent long walks in the surrounding countryside, described in sufficient detail as to make the reader imagine they were also there.

The great day has finally arrived and it is time to announce the winner of the draw for the review copy of, Toute Allure, that those very nice people at Summersdale have sent to us.

We assigned a number to each of the applicants and put those numbers in a hat.

However, choosing a winner was complicated. Pulling a piece a paper from an old straw hat didn't really have the style and class that we were looking for.

Not exactly the stuff Oscars ceremonies are made of!

So, I hastily built a random number generator out of bits of an alien spacecraft that had crashed in the garden a few weeks before and tried again.

At first the random number generator would just sizzle and spark and return the number 42 (which may not surprise everyone) but eventually, when it had warmed up, it did what it was supposed to do and supplied us with a winner.....

The original story of falling for France, Perfume from Provence was first published in 1935 and became a best-seller.

Winifred Fortescue was an actress who rubbed shoulders with the likes of Jerome K. Jerome and George Bernard Shaw when she married Sir John Fortescue, the king’s librarian and archivist and famous historian of the British Army.

Born in 1888, Winifred Fortescue gave up her career on the stage after marriage and founded a successful fashion and interior design business.

She later began writing articles for The Times and Punch, and inaugurated a woman’s page for The Morning Post. She wrote seven books, of which Perfume from Provence was the first.

The original story of falling for France, Perfume from Provence was first published in 1935 and became a best-seller. Winifred Fortescue was an actress who rubbed shoulders with the likes of Jerome K. Jerome and George Bernard Shaw when she married Sir John Fortescue, the king’s librarian and archivist and famous historian of the British Army. Tempted by a better climate and the cheaper cost of living, they left England and found a stone house amid olive groves, high in the hills above Nice. Almost at once they were bewitched by the landscape and especially their garden – delightful terraces of vines, wild flowers, roses and lavender – and by the charming, warm-hearted and wily Provençals.

Winifred’s witty account of life with stonemasons, craftsmen and gardeners as they extend the house is an enchanting read.

Hugo Soskin, son of best-selling author on Rennes-le-Château Henry Lincoln, has no time for the French Pyrenean village and its mysteries.

He is fed up with the whole subject of how a nineteenth-century priest came to be a millionaire overnight and why he built so many bizarre clues into his church and his home.

Hugo Soskin lives in Gloucestershire and has been a bookseller and nursery manager, as well as having worked in bars in Spain and as a chef in France.

Hugo Soskin, son of best-selling author on Rennes-le-Château Henry Lincoln, has no time for the French Pyrenean village and its mysteries. He is fed up with the whole subject of how a nineteenth-century priest came to be a millionaire overnight and why he built so many bizarre clues into his church and his home. But when he and his wife decide to drive an old camper van to Spain to start a new life, they can’t resist a tiny peek en route at the village that enthralls and captivates so many.
