Karen Wheeler
Karen Wheeler is the author of the lovely Tout Sweet and the soon to be published (as I write this in June 2010), Toute Allure.
I was honoured to be able to interview Karen for my other site, A Taste of Garlic and found Karen not only to be funny and witty but also to be the perfect person to explain why someone would jack in a perfectly good job, say goodbye to Kensington and move to a rural French village two hours by train from the nearest Prada store and a five hour journey from the nearest M&S food hall!
You can read that interview here at An interview with Karen Wheeler.
Karen has her own blog at www.toutsweet.net where she supplies updates on her interesting life in the Poitou-Charentes.
Both of Karen's books are available for purchase from Books About France - just take a peek at the links on the sidebar.
This is what it says about Karen on Amazon.co.uk....
"Karen Wheeler is an award-winning fashion and beauty writer and former newspaper Fashion Editor. Born near Liverpool in the north of England, she studied Modern History at Kings College, London University and worked briefly at Sotheby's art auctioneers before embarking on a career in fashion journalism.
During her career she has interviewed many of fashion's top names including Tom Ford, Karl Lagerfeld, Giorgio Armani and Calvin Klein and has written on a regular basis for many national newspapers and supplements including the Financial Times, the Daily Mail, the Sunday Times Style, The Mail on Sunday and ES magazine. She moved to France in August 2005 thanks to several random twists of fate, initially planning to stay for a year. Five years and two books later, she is still enjoying 'la vie rurale' and fortunately, most of her neighbours - many of whom feature in Tout Sweet - are still speaking to her. Since writing Tout Sweet she has received a mountain of emails from readers around the world, saying that the book cheered them up, made them laugh, helped them deal with heartbreak or inspired them to change their own lives in some way. (One reviewer described Tout Sweet as 'a spring clean for the soul.') More information about the author can be found on her blog, www.toutsweet.net, which charts her everyday life in France and at www.karenwheeler.co.uk." Pretty much sums her up apart from the fact that she does (on her blog at www.toutsweet.net), claim to understand the offside rule! All the best
